New Swimmer Evaluations
For young kids who would like to join a swim team, but are not sure if they are ready. The purpose of the session is to avoid the frustration and disappointment unqualified new swimmers and their parents feel when they arrive that first day of practice with new suits and goggles and high hopes only to find that they aren't ready to swim for a team.

BSA Swim Lessons
BSA offers the progressive Group Swimming Lessons program — a program created by professional swim coaches across America — that focuses on teaching efficiency in the four competitive swimming strokes. The lesson format is designed to allow swimmers to progress at their own rate.

Young children begin the lesson program at Level 1. In Level 1, swimmers are introduced to water in a comfortable environment where they are taught the basics of air exchange and water safety. Level 1 lessons are available only on a private or semi-private basis. Levels 2-5 are taught as Group lessons. Level 6 students may enter our Stroke Clinics.

All Group lessons are taught in Carlson Gym pool (water temp about 85 degrees) on the CU Campus by Tiffany Forbes. Lessons run for 30 minutes, and are only offered on Sundays as group lessons. Private lessons can be set up separately, with either Tiffany or Amy.

What level is my child? Call us and describe your kid’s abilities, and we’ll direct you to the appropriate level in which to begin.

Swimming classes are taught by Tiffany Forbes. Classes with more than 5 students will have a second instructor in the water to assist. Only Levels 2 – 5 will be offered as group lessons. Each 30-minute class will focus on one level.

Stroke Clinics
The goal of the stroke clinics is to teach technical perfection in stroke execution. We do no aerobic conditioning in these clinics; we only work to improve the swimmer’s ability to execute the strokes as efficiently as possible. We address the four competitive strokes swum in the BVSSL. Any swimmer who is beyond Level 5 in the group lessons (or in a Swim America program) is eligible to swim in these clinics.

Each month includes one week of freestyle technique; a week of backstroke technique; a week of breaststroke and butterfly techniques together; and a week of starts and turns. In 3-week sessions, backstroke and freestyle skills are combined.

Water Polo

We will teach the basics of Water Polo ball handling skills, the objectives of the game, and the underlying strategy of the game. We also plan to introduce our competitive team, the Colorado Miners, this fall. Practices will be a mix of learning the skills and strategy of the game, along with scrimmage play.

Private Swimming Instruction
Private swimming lessons are available to swimmers of all ages and abilities. Young swimmers must be comfortable in the water without a parent, or parents must be willing to get wet. Private lessons are available in three formats:

One-on-One Private Instruction
One student per instructor allows for lessons that are fully customized for the individual swimmer's needs and abilities – from beginners learning the basics to elite swimmers looking to fine-tune their technique. Class length can be customized as well, based on swimmers’ goals, age or time availability.

Fees: $1 per minute (generally lessons are not longer than 60 minutes)

Semi-Private Instruction
Lessons can be more fun and comfortable when children get to swim with a friend. This format offers customized instruction for two swimmers - similar abilities are essential to ensure efficient and fair lessons.

Fees:
$25 for 20-minute lesson
$40 for 30-minute lesson
$60 for 45-minute lesson
$80 for 60-minute lesson

Groups of Three
Adding another friend saves cost. Again, similar abilities are a must. Great format for adults!

Fees:
$30 for 20-minute lesson
$45 for 30-minute lesson
$75 for 40-minute lesson
$90 for 60-minute lesson

Video analysis is available. Student must provide their own tape.
